The Humanities

Learning about the past informs children so that they can make personal choices reflecting their attitudes and values. Children look at a variety of historical evidence, researching and looking at different viewpoints and are taught to weigh up evidence and use a variety of sources of information to help them understand why and how events happened in the past. In Geography children develop their knowledge of people, places and environments in different and contrasting locations, locally, nationally and world-wide. We aim to help children gain a better understanding of the world around them and to enable them to appreciate and interact with their immediate environment. Visits are often used to inspire pupils and develop their understanding in these areas.
