The School Day
During the normal school week the time spent on teaching the whole curriculum, excluding assemblies, registration and breaks, is 24 hours.
Daily Timetable:
1st Session 8.30 - 10.15
Break 10.15 - 10.30
2nd Session 10.30 - 12.00
Lunch Break 12 - 1
3rd Session 1-3/3:15
Starting and finishing times
We run a staggered start to school to help the traffic in the lane stay manageable for all. The gates are open between 8:30-8:45am with all children to be in by 8:45am at the latest. Buttercups (Years R-1) finish school at 3pm and Willow and Oakwood (Years 2-6) finish at 3:15pm. We suggest that Buttercup class arrive at 8:30am so they can have their full entitlement of 32.5 hours in school a week.
Lunch
All children are able to have either hot school meals or a packed lunch. These can be mixed and matched on a daily basis. The hot school meals are ordered online in advance directly from Chartwells. If you are entitled to free school meals please contact the school office for a form. During good weather children with packed lunches eat outside at picnic tables in the playground.
We are proud to work with Chartwells for your children’s school lunches. Chartwells believe that the key to fuelling young minds comes from understanding both what they need and what they enjoy, which is why they develop nutritious and delicious food that pupils love, alongside helping to ensure a healthy body and mind. Their passionate culinary experts work closely with us to ensure every child receives healthy food, perfectly suited to meet their needs and dietary requirements. How to order: Log on at www.parentpay.com to choose and book your meals. Orders need to be placed by midnight Thursday, ten days ahead of the week required. For example, meals for the week starting Monday 12th would have an order deadline of Thursday 1st. You will have received an activation letter and temporary password to set up your ParentPay account. If you need this resent, please contact your school office.

Playtimes
In the middle of the morning the children play outside on the hard surfaced playgrounds, but at lunchtime they are also allowed on our large playing field. The field is often muddy, so we ask that all children keep a pair of wellington boots at school. If it is raining the children are supervised while they play indoors.
Swimming
Children from Year 2 to Year 6 have a ten week series of lessons each school year at The Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill. You will be advised of the cost of this when your child is due to swim.
Clubs
The clubs on offer, at lunchtime and after-school, will depend on the time of year and the staff who are available. Recently children have been able to choose from piano, guitar, spirit shakers, art, netball, football, basketball, cricket, cross-country running, chess, forest school, lego, street dance and gardening.
