The School Day

During the normal school week the time spent on teaching the whole curriculum, excluding assemblies, registration and breaks, is 24 hours.

Daily Timetable:
1st Session 8.45 - 10.15
Break 10.15 - 10.30
2nd Session 10.30 - 12.00
Lunch Break 12 - 1
3rd Session 1-3

Starting and finishing times

School starts at 8.45am and ends at 3pm. (Parents are welcome to leave children in the playground from 8.30am but no earlier, please, as there is no one to supervise them.)

Lunch

All children are able to have either hot school meals or a packed lunch.  These can be mixed and matched on a daily basis.  The hot school meals are ordered online in advance directly from Chartwells.  If you are entitled to free school meals please contact the school office for a form. During good weather children with packed lunches eat outside at picnic tables in the playground.

Playtimes

In the middle of the morning the children play outside on the hard surfaced playgrounds, but at lunchtime they are also allowed on our large playing field. The field is often muddy, so we ask that all children keep a pair of wellington boots at school. If it is raining the children are supervised while they play indoors.

Swimming

All children from Year 1 to Year 6 have a ten week series of lessons on Friday mornings at The Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill. It's normally Ivy Class that swim in the Autumn, Holly Class in the Spring and KS1 in the Summer. You will be advised of the cost of this when your child is due to swim.

Clubs

The clubs on offer, at lunchtime and after-school, will depend on the time of year and the staff who are available. Recently children have been able to choose from art, drama, netball, football, basketball, cricket, cross-country running, choir, orchestra, cooking, chess, country dancing and gardening.
